Have you ever been around “that” special someone where you instantly start feeling so fulfilled with love, that presence ever so powerful, pure and genuine that you naturally gravitate towards all those strong feelings which take over your mind, body and soul in such a positive manner?
And, now imagine “that” person is no longer there and what I mean by that is that they don’t exist physically anymore. You are left starving for that love with a deep void left not only in your heart but a community that longs for her too. How would you honor “that” significant soul?
My brother Jag Bains and I Pardeep Bains had “that” very person in our lives and so did my uncle Jazzy B and not a day goes by where we don’t think about her. She was our ‘beautiful grandma’ and my uncle’s precious mother.
Between the earth and the sky above, nothing can ever match a grandmother and mother’s love. It’s hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember and who touched many hearts on a whole community level.
With deep sadness and emptiness…December 18th is a date we will never forget. THE core of our family, remarkable, kind, loving and one special woman she was who touched every heart she came encounter with, who had the innate ability to bring people together. Now almost a decade, we couldn’t think of a way to honor her better, that would do justice for the superwoman she was and continues to be in our hearts.
And on that very note, my uncle, brother and I came to the realization that the only way to truly honor that special person is by creating a foundation in what we admirably called her.
Us 3, are very proud to announce and introduce to you all “THE SHOTEE MAA FOUNDATION” (Shotee = Tiny | Maa=Mom) and to us it means ‘A superwoman with a BIG HEART. Shotee Maa is what we called her; she was our grandma and mom, yet she was bigger than that……she was our ultimate foundation.
The goal and mission of this humble foundation is simple and based on simplicity; that is to help and bring the people of our community together like Shotee Maa did and would have. We will be doing it in the form of causes, activities and various types of events.
For this reason, we want to raise funds for youth homeless shelters and low income families in Vancouver/Surrey because those are the people who need a significant amount of love & support, especially during the season of giving. Youth who are homeless didn’t ask to be homeless and many are for the reasons of fleeing violent/abusive homes, migrating from war torn countries, abandoned and mental health factors…they cannot fathom so how can we!
We all deserve a life of securities however YOUTH and low income families also deserve to feel this way too.
The Funds and proceeds raised for this foundation will go towards buying the basic necessities such as gloves, socks, hoodies, toques, shampoo, lotion etc……
In honor of shotee maa, please consider donating to those young souls who need it the most during the season of giving! Any amount, be large or small would be deeply appreciated!
Her love has never left us and we want to spread that deep love across the world so please share the link to your friends and social networks as well!
